The Cokato Corn Carnival Parade is Monday, August 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Line-up begins at 4:00 p.m., on Seventh Street SE running from US Highway 12 to Mooers Avenue. There are just over 100 units in the parade. Our line up number is 73. A parade staff person will show you where your assigned slot is located. Line-up spots are marked by a sign with a number along the street curb.
We are asking that you wear something yellow on top if possible. If that is not possible...no problem. We still NEED YOU!
ALL ENTRIES MUST ENTER THE LINE-UP AREA FROM U.S. HIGHWAY 12 ON THE EAST SIDE OF TOWN NEAR THE COKATO FIRE STATION. The map below marks the entry area. There will be parking available on the side streets for extra vehicles. DO NOT attempt to enter the line-up area from Broadway Avenue; it will be blocked off to facilitate organizing the kiddie parade.
We will need two people to carry our new 8 ft by 2 ft banner. Tom Durant will drive a cool car (belongs to a former student/friend of the Durants) and Bunny Carlen (church council member and just all around awesome lady) has agreed to ride in it.
We will distribute candy (You do not need to bring it. Candy will be provided for you...) BUT nothing can be handed or thrown from vehicles.
You will need to walk close to the side of the road and gently "toss" it from there. Kids...the adults will help you with this.
Upon completion of the parade, please use side streets to return to the line-up area. This will help keep the parade moving smoothly.
You will find your line-up number (#73) in the attached document. On the day of the parade questions should be directed to Tracy Hagstrom Durant or Tammi Dahlman.
